This regional natural history museum was developed as part of a major downtown revitalization project in Manhattan, Kansas. The new museum is positioned as the gateway to the city along the Main Street approach. The design utilizes local Kansas limestone in a unique and striated way that mimics the natural geology of the stone layers in the surrounding Flint Hills. Outdoor exhibit terraces on the museum’s back side step down into the neighboring park and serve as living exhibits of local flaura.

The design achieved LEED gold certification.
