Sela is a registered architect, LEED Accredited Professional, and graduate of the University of Virginia and Smith College with 12 years of experience at BIA.studio in all phases of design and construction. She has experience in the design and renovation of institutional, commercial and transportation architecture, and her versatility and professional strengths extend across all phases of design and construction. She has conducted feasibility and design studies, overseen renovations and new construction projects and is an experienced construction phase administrator. She is responsible for running projects from early design and planning through construction administration.
Sela has considerable experience in transit station accessibility and knowledge of the MBTA system, working to develop and implement the MBTA’s new ADA-compliant system-wide wayfinding signage system at more than 280 subway and commuter rail stations. She has worked closely with the MBTA’s Design & Construction and System-Wide Accessibility departments, training their staff on the new approach towards station navigation.
As Project Architect for the Steamship Authority Administrative Offices Ms. Bailey led the design and consultant team through all phases of planning, design, and construction administration. More recently Sela has been in charge of numerous higher ed projects, often on very tight schedules. She consistently gets high praise from clients who trust her leadership and ability to see projects through to conclusion.
