Reconstruction of the South Plaza is complete, addressing waterproofing failures in the nearly 50 year old central plaza that sits over a sub-plaza utility tunnel on the Holyoke Community College campus. The plaza deck assembly was replaced with a new slope-to-drain topping slab, new waterproofing, new paving, and new drainage. Leaking raised planters and deteriorated sloped building sills were removed to expand the plaza area and provide new built-in seating along the parapet walls. The new pre-cast concrete unit pavers extend the colors and patterning of the central plaza’s concrete paving in a thinner traffic-grade paving assembly.
