BIA.studio is wrapping up a campus-wide investigation into the condition of the structural and building envelope systems of nine buildings on the Cape Cod Community College campus in West Barnstable, MA. In partnership with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, the study includes existing conditions assessments of the campus’ original 1960s and 1970s buildings – including brick masonry veneer exterior walls, original single pane windows, exterior doors, and membrane roofing – with recommendations for the repair of deteriorated and failed systems and hazardous materials abatement, detailed cost estimates, and a prioritized phasing plan. The recommended first phase of work, which focuses on replacement of roofs to address active leaking and critical structural repairs, will be submitted for funding as a DCAMM-certified study.
